Hack for good - postponed

November 19th to November 21st

new: April 8th to 10th 2022

Basislager Coworking, Leipzig

When the nights get longer and the weather outside is frightful, we need some warmth in our hearts. Many people sacrifice their time and energy to create this warmth by giving and contributing to the benefit of those less fortunate and in need.

Many NGOs, associations and individuals also work hard to give to social, environmental or other sustainability causes. We believe that they should not only give but also receive, that society should give back to them.

This is why we are collaborating on a hackathon to support these organizations with solutions to help them focus more on delivering impact.

Join the Hackolaus!

Skills to bring

You don't need to have any specific skills to participate – any help is welcome! Here's some ideas on how to get involved:

You enjoy working on the visual? Go ahead and create a logo, design mockups or imagine ways of interactions.

It's easy for you to get engaged in project? Bring that spirit to the rest of your team and help them push through the hackathon.

You like to get your hand dirty on some code or want to play with new technologies? Well, then the hackolaus will be a a great opportunity to dive into the matter while getting inspiration and help from others.

Idea Giver

The team is stuck and doesn't know how to continue? That's where you come in and give some new directions.

Super Hero

You want to do your bit to help change the world? Then you already got all it takes.

Participating NGOs

We're gathering not for profit organizations doing work on social, environmental and economic sustainability to share their work, frustrations and goals. With this information, attendees will form teams to build solutions for the non profit of their choice.

Is there a Code of Conduct?

Yes, you can find it HERE.

Will the venue be open overnight?

Depends on. If possible, the venue will remain open for hackathon participants through the weekend to support the event.

I can’t stay the whole time, can I still participate?

Of course! We realize that a weekend is a long time and people may need to attend to other commitments. We do, however, strongly encourage you to be present on Friday to see the NGOs pitch ideas and find a team.

What if I don't know how to code?

You are still welcome! We have several challenges that don’t require any coding skills. As long as you come willing to learn and contribute ideas.

What do I bring?

Bring your laptop, mobile phone, scratch paper and curiousity. We will provide food, drinks, wi-fi, power and some christmas treats.

Who made these cute graphics on the page?

Elli. Many thanks!

I have another question, how can I contact you?

Just send us an email.
